Psychologist Recommends New Parents’ Guidebook, “Know More About Drugs”

Parents and caregivers are not being informed of the FDA’s documented risks of the psychotropic (mind-altering) drugs and painkillers (opioids) being prescribed to children.

As a licensed clinical psychologist and forensic expert in medication outcome studies, I am often asked to testify about the short and long-term use of psychiatric medications. Unfortunately, parents have not been fully informed about the potential dangers of these powerful mind-altering drugs. As I see more and more cases of children being given psychiatric medications, I see more and more severe adverse effects happening with these medications. Suicidal and violent thoughts, dangerous and violent behaviors, increasing dependence and anxiety, agitation, and disorganization have all become too common in many of these cases.

Psychologist Wants Parents to ‘Know More About Drugs’

Why I support the Alliance to empower parents with documented risks of prescribed psychotropic drugs on children

The reason I agreed to write this blog is because knowledge about KMAD is so greatly needed, as it literally saves the lives of children, teens and their families. I have referred patients and family members to this important website and organization, whereby, the information about psychotropic (mind-altering) drugs has led to greater understanding about these medications. It is that foundation, understanding the pros and cons to taking, or not taking, a psychotropic mind-altering drug, that allows for true informed consent.
